I spent numerous hours researching sailboats, looking at local listings and contemplating on which type of a vessel to get. I began with looking at small 10-14ft range, moving on to hobby cats, and eventually making up my mind on slightly larger 20ft plus options.
I began looking at 23-25ft options, such as Catalinas and MacGregors, and eventually found a somewhat less known, and fairly rare option–a Kells 23 swing keel. The boat was owned by a guy name Jim, who sailed it for the past few decades in lakes of Ohio.
After picking it up and bringing it home hooked up to the back of my Model Y, I began compiling a long list of updates and changes I wanted to do to it before being ready to put it on the water.
